F&T - Fri 6th March: 3 hours of Story-boarding...

  • Met with Elena & Deryck to storyboard the film; spent much longer than anticipated (3 hours).
  • Showed my Visual tests and also Robes of War as I thought the subject matter would appeal to D; decided to think more in terms of stylising/simplifying figures like Robes of War, showing a change in visual style from my previous tests.

  • A lot of discussion /to-ing and fro-ing for what would be involved: often between D & E for what they felt to be most effective/appropriate/poignant symbolism.
  • I played a part in this, often helping to choose what to do/elaborate D & E's thoughts but mainly thinking in terms of how things could be technically done as well. Reiterating that in animation, everything needs planned in advance - only creating what we'll use.
  • Approach for the film began to change as we discussed about potentially incorporating music/sound design.
  • Although tiring, was probably the most productive time spent on the film so far; by end, had a draft of full storyboard and I said that I would begin to develop some more appropriate visual styles for it.
3 hours after working on it, we have a storyboard (hallelujah)
