Actually, it's not been too bad really. I haven't properly tried hand-drawn animation before with lightboxes and line-testers so it's pretty cool.
The following videos are a series of attempts and edited versions of different kinds of balls:.

Bouncing Ball attempt
Quite happy with the result of this for a first attempt; would have been nice if
included another bounce between the first and second in the video so that there
wasn't as big a height difference between them.

Heavy Ball attempt
Decided to try for something a bit more subtle. Had originally planned to
continue the ball rolling so that it reached the middle of the shot but after I
tested the drawings I had done so far, it didn't feel natural to continue it.
The word 'Heavy' was a last-minute addition to fill the space.
Heavy Ball attempt w/ shadow positioning
As development, added an outline of where a cast shadow would be to define the
surface in which it meets. Last couple of frames are shaded. Further development
would have been to shade/render all frames and soften cast shadow edge.
Rubbery Ball
An attempt at a more exaggerated 'ball' (trying to suggest a Flubber type material).
Like the impact on the wall and fall-off at end. Would prefer the impacts on the
ceiling and floor to look more like rebounds.

Rubbery Ball (impact change)
Changed the frames of impact on ceiling and floor. Prefer first version as change
of lighting makes it flicker more and drawings don't achieve what I wanted.
